1988 Burgundy IROC-Z
Brent started, 7 years ago, with a Flame Red, T-topped, 1988 IROC / Z28 coupe with a 305 cu. in. Tuned Port Injected engine backed-up with a TH700R4 automatic and a 2:73 posi rearend sprung by factory Bilstein shocks. Power accessories include steering, brakes and air-conditioning. The gray custom cloth interior includes factory gauges and console.
Take that potent combination and add functional ram-air induction; K&N air filters; 3" Flowmaster exhaust; 4 wheel, cross drilled, disc brakes; Goodyear 255-50ZR16 GS-Cson polished and custom painted aluminum rims; strut tower brace; sub-frame connectors and suddenly youve got a car that would make any Corvette owner sweat bullets.
Not one to settle for the factory sound system, he installed a Kenwood AM/FM cassette deck complete with CD controller, powered by a Kenwood 350 watt amp, the 2 - 10" sub-woofers should be enough to make him feel as if he always has front row tickets to the latest concert. ( No truth to the rumor that he has to stay away from cemeteries out of fear of waking the dead! )
Future planned modifications include 3:43 or 3:73 gears, stiffer control arms and Panhard bar; lowering kit with stiffer springs and ultimately replacing the 305 with a 383 or 406 TPI stroker motor! I can hear the fiberglass guys, not to mention the 5.0L pony boys, shaking in their boots!
